Questions about Modern Jesus
Why the title The Antichrist?
The title names a spiritual inversion: religious forms can remain while the transformation they point toward is avoided. It is not an attack on Jesus or Christians. The book turns the same question toward Buddhism and James himself.
Do Christianity and Buddhism say the same thing?
No. The book compares experiences and practices while respecting important differences between the traditions, including Christian self-emptying and Buddhist not-self. It asks what each reveals about lasting change without treating them as interchangeable.
Who is this book for?
Christians seeking contemplative depth, Buddhists looking back on Christian experience, and thoughtful seekers may each find an entry point. Readers need not share James’s present practice to consider the question of what spiritual experience actually changes.
Is it a memoir or a meditation manual?
It is a question-led inquiry shaped by lived experience. James’s story gives the questions their setting, but the book is neither a complete life history nor a step-by-step guide to practice.
Why does yoga appear in the book?
Yoga helped James explore how body, breath, and attention can shape experience. It is part of his formative journey, not a claim that one technique caused awakening.
When will the book be available?
Modern Jesus is forthcoming. A release date and purchase details have not been confirmed. You can receive new essays for occasional updates on the book.
